Work in progress on leather products

Hand sewing with linen thread

Using durable linen thread for a strong, crafted finish.

Sewing machine sewing
In our atelier, we use both hand stitching and machine sewing techniques, and we adjust the finishing based on the product. We pay special attention to preventing thread wear caused by friction, especially in leather items like bag shoulder straps, which are used every day.

「Edge beveling」「Burnishing the edges」
“Edge beveling” involves softly trimming the leather edges at an angle, creating a more refined and neat appearance before burnishing.
“Burnishing the edges” is the process of smoothing and rounding the leather edges to give them a polished, finished look.
Both techniques help enhance the overall look and durability of leather products.

Edge beveling
When you look at the cut edge of the leather from the side, it’s at a 90-degree angle. Using a special tool, the edge is beveled. The blade is typically set at about a 45-degree angle and then gently slid along the edge.

Burnishing the edges
Using wood or cloth, the beveled leather pieces are polished. Polishing brings out a glossy finish.
Decoration / Prepare for stitching
This is the process of drawing lines for stitching or adding design elements to the overall look of the product.
